We love Croyde Bay. The surf here is phenomenal – just check out @VisitCroydeBay on Instagram. Plus, the village has a great vibe and it’s also the home of the first WOW Shop. That said, the waves tend to be much more aggressive and aren’t so great for people still finding their feet on a surfboard. So, we can do specialist sessions at Croyde, but we prefer our home at Saunton and can pick you up from outside our shop at Unison Croyde Bay Resort if you don’t have your own transport.
The WOW Shop at Croyde Bay
Our shop can be found right at the entrance of Unison’s Croyde Bay Holiday Resort (click or punch in EX33 1QB if you’re using a sat nav).
The shop includes Surf hire and seaside and surfing goods for sale. You can also pop in to book a lesson with us if you’re finding North Devon’s variable phone signals a challenge!
Lessons and Courses at Saunton
Walking on Waves offers surf lessons to people of all ages and abilities. Whether it’s your first time getting into a wetsuit or you’re an all-seasons board rider, we can introduce you to surfing, improve your riding or fundamentally rebuild your surfing skills.
Our group surf lessons and courses range from one hour to three days. We meet up on our decking area, at the top of the beach slip road, and get to know each other. Then we move to the beach for a quick briefing before it’s into the water for your surfing experience with the help of Sarah’s expert on-the-water coaching techniques.
Family Groups and Private Coaching
For a more personal experience, we offer private small groups coaching for families (or friends) as well s one-to-one for those looking to target a specific skill or weakness. I like to meet and greet and talk to you all before the lesson so the instructors know the level you are at and the improvements you’d like to make which we can help with.
Fancy Something Different?
Whether you’re looking for a mini-adventure that will take you a mile or so further along Saunton Sands beach, or fancy getting up to speed with the (not so new) sport of Stand-Up Paddleboarding, Walking on Waves has the answer for you.
